This ranking is based upon the period from 6/30/2023 to 6/30/2024 and was released on 4/8/2025. Those advisors that are considered have a minimum of seven years of experience, and the algorithm weighs factors like revenue trends, assets under management, compliance records, industry experience and those that encompass best practices in their practices and approach to working with clients. Portfolio performance is not a criteria due to varying client objectives and lack of audited data. Out of approximately 48,944 nominations, roughly 9,722 advisors received the award. FT 300: Top Registered Investment Advisers (Michael L. Hines, CFP ®)
The Financial Times FT 300 Registered Investment Advisors 2020 award had about 39.5% of the 760 advisor applicants being recognized as a Registered Investment Advisor. The FT used the database of RIAs who are registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and selected those practices reporting to the SEC that had $300 million or more in assets under management, and no more than 75% of the AUM with institutional clients.  Additionally, the firm must be independent (not the RIA arm of a broker dealer for example).  Qualifying RIA firms filled out an online application and questionnaire that gave more information about their practices. That information was augmented with their own research on the candidates, including data from regulatory filings. The FT generated an internal score for each applicant based on six broad factors: advisor assets under management, AUM growth rate, the firm's years in operation, advisors' industry certifications (CFA, etc.), compliance record, and online accessibility. AUM and asset growth comprise roughly 80 percent to 90 percent of each RIA's score.  Additionally, to provide a diversity of advisors, the FT placed a cap on the number of RIA's from any one state that's roughly correlated to the distribution of millionaires across the U.S. The ranking may not be representative of any one client's experience, is not an endorsement, and is not indicative of an advisor's future performance. InvestmentNews 2023 40 under 40 (Varun K. Marneni, CFP ®) Each year InvestmentNews recognizes 40 industry professions under the age of 40 based on factors including accomplishments as exhibited by their credentials and achievements in their industry-related projects, contributions to the industry, quality of leadership within the financial advice field, and promise/commitment to the field. The nominees were all under the age of 40 when the honorees were announced. Over 1000 nominees were considered and 40 were chosen to receive the award in 2023. The nominations are read and vetted by an internal group of editors and reporters at InvestmentNews. This ranking is based upon the period from 06/1/2022 to 6/1/2023 and was released on 06/05/2023. USA TODAY 2024 Best Financial Advisory Firm The selection of the firms and the definition of the evaluation criteria were based on independent journalistic criteria of USA TODAY and Statista. The ranking of the best-registered investment advisory firms is based on two dimensions: recommendations by clients and peers and a firm’s growth of Assets under Management. Recommendations were collected via an independent survey sent to over 25,000 individuals. The development of AUM was analyzed both, short and long-term based on publicly available data. For the short-term view, the growth of AUM over a twelve-month period was calculated, from January 2023 to January 2024. For the long-term view, the growth of AUM over a five-year period was calculated, from 2019-2024. Recommendations had a weight of 20% while development of AUM had a weight of 80% (short-term and long-term growth were equally weighted) to derive the final score. The 500 RIA firms with the highest score were awarded as USA TODAY’s Best Financial Advisory Firms.
